    China has overtaken Greece to become the world's largest shipowner by gross tonnage. At present, the size of the fleet owned by Chinese shipowners has reached 249.2 million gross tons, accounting for 15.9% of the market share.

    How to seize the historical opportunity of the shift of the world's shipping center of gravity, better promote the high-quality development of the shipping industry, and help promote the realization of the goal of shipping power? China Shipowners Association held a symposium on high-quality development of shipping in the new office today, inviting industry representatives to offer suggestions for the development of the association, gather industry wisdom, and develop a maritime power in total.

    Zhang Shouguo, executive vice president of China Shipowners Association, said that since its establishment, the association has always been committed to promoting the prosperity and development of the shipowners industry, providing members with quality services and industry self-discipline. After years of efforts, the team of members of the association has been growing, and the activities have also been carried out with vigor and color, which has made outstanding contributions to the development of China's shipowner industry.

    In recent years, China Shipowners Association has made full use of the advantages of Shanghai's shipping resources and given full play to the leading role of the industry organization: not only the number of members has been growing, the number of existing members has reached 310; At the same time, it also strengthened the functional construction of the branches, so that the work of the association is more professional and targeted. There are 13 special committees, and after coming to Shanghai, the Maritime Security Committee, the Law and Finance Insurance Committee and the China-South Korea Container Committee have been added.

    In addition, the association has also played a bridging role and actively organized various industry exchange activities. According to incomplete statistics, since December 2016, a total of 116 activities have been held, including information sessions, training sessions, research meetings, forums, exhibitions and other types; In response to the call of international exchanges and cooperation, the association actively participates in international shipping affairs, and on the basis of the Asian shipowners Association ASA, it has joined the Baltic Sea International Shipping Association BIMCO and the International Shipping Association ICS, sending out the voice of Chinese shipowners to the world shipping industry.
