On September 22, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding") and China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding") jointly delivered the 7,000TEU (TEU) container ship "Centauri" built by Singapore X-PRESS Company.

    At this point, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding since the delivery of the ship type first ship on June 21 this year, in a short period of 3 months has completed the delivery of 8 7000TEU container ships.

    This type of ship is a new generation of green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly container ship newly developed by Shanghai Shipbuilding Research and Design Institute under China State Shipbuilding Group. It has a total length of 272 meters, a width of 42.8 meters, a depth of 24.6 meters, a full load draft of 15 meters, and a deadweight of about 86,000 tons. The deck can be loaded with 9 layers and 17 rows of containers, and the cargo hold can be loaded with 8 layers and 15 rows of containers, which can load more than 7,000 20-foot standard containers.

    As an innovation leader in the field of civil ship construction in China, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding is the first ship company in the world to develop, design and build more than 300 Capesize bulk carriers, accounting for about 16% of the global Capesize bulk carrier market, ranking first in the world. The company has delivered 50 Afra tankers, accounting for about 5% of the global Afra tankers operating fleet. In particular, 13 new orders for this type of ship will be received in 2023, accounting for about 50% of the global market share.

    In 2020, in order to further enrich and strengthen the ship spectrum of civil vessels and enhance its comprehensive strength, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding decided to enter the 7,000TEU container ship segment market after comprehensive research and judgment of the ship market, and has so far accepted a total of 34 orders for this type of ship, with the world's first market share.

    At present, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has formed an original rapid, continuous and rhythmic production and mass delivery mode, and achieved the "China Ship speed" of delivering 8 ships in 3 months, which has injected new momentum into the comprehensive promotion of the "cruise leading, one and two wings" strategy and further improved the high-quality transformation of civilian ships. It is understood that by the end of this year, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding will also deliver 4 7000TEU containers, a total of 12 throughout the year, is expected to create an average monthly delivery of a new record of batch construction.
