According to the information released by the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Observatory on the 18th, the Hainan provincial Meteorological Bureau continued to issue a typhoon level 4 warning at 9:20 on the same day, the tropical depression in the South China Sea is expected to strengthen into the 16th typhoon (tropical storm level) in the day of the 18th, and from the night of the 18th to the early morning of the 19th in Sanya, Hainan Island to the coastal areas of the East.
According to monitoring, the tropical disturbance originally located in the western sea of the South China Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression on the afternoon of the 17th, the tropical depression of the South China Sea, at 08:00 on the 18th, the center was located at 16.9 degrees north latitude and 109.7 degrees east longitude, that is, in the South China Sea about 150 kilometers south of Sanya City, and the maximum wind force near the center was 7 (15 meters/second).
According to the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Observatory, the depression will move to the northwest at a speed of 5-10 kilometers per hour and strengthen into the 16th typhoon of the year (tropical storm level) during the day of the 18th. It will make landfall in the coastal areas from Sanya to the east of Hainan Island from the night of the 18th to the early morning of the 19th, with the central intensity of tropical storm level (20-23 m/s) at the time of landfall. Then it gradually approaches the surface of the Beibu Gulf.
Hainan provincial meteorological department warned that vessels operating in the Beibu Gulf and offshore Hainan Island should quickly return to port to take shelter, and relevant departments need to do a good job of risk prevention of Marine wind disasters. The Qiongzhou Strait may be suspended again. Relevant departments are requested to make navigation arrangements, rush transport of melons and vegetables and traffic control in advance. From April 18 to 20, the rainfall intensity on Hainan Island is relatively high, and relevant departments need to prevent secondary disasters such as urban and rural flooding, farmland waterlogging, mountain floods, small and medium-sized river floods, and geological disasters.
