The "MSC Hamburg" ship, which was rebuilt by Wenchong, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Group, for Mediterranean Shipping Company, was delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou on the 17th. Through the transformation, the maximum loading capacity of the MSC Burger ship has been increased from the original 16,000 TEU to 18,500 TEU, becoming a veritable "Big MAC" and "king of cargo" at sea.

    It is reported that the ship's renovation project lasted two and a half months, completed the installation of the mixed desulfurization system, the replacement of the binding bridge, the replacement of the bulbous bow, the elevation of the living area and other projects, the renovation project involved 3,000 tons of steel structure, 4,757 meters of pipelines, 74,000 meters of cables, is the largest amount of container ship transformation projects in the history of global ship repair.

    The MSC Hamburg is 399.99 meters long and 54 meters wide, with a deck area equivalent to nearly 3.5 standard football fields. The ship went into operation in 2015 and serves major ports around the world. The "MSC Hamburg" ship renovation project is also the largest container ship upgrade project undertaken by Wenchong Construction so far. The upgrading site construction of the project began on July 29, 2023 and took 75 days to complete.

    In this upgrading project, Wenchong Repair made bold innovation in design. During the installation of desulfurization equipment, through optimizing process technology, the interference on the original ship pipeline and structure was greatly optimized in the construction process. Compared with the same type of modification project, the modification amount of the original ship pipeline and structure was reduced by about 70%, and the construction efficiency was greatly improved.

    In the project of raising the living area, all the cables entering the bridge need to be barged, and Wenchong has studied and formulated a complete set of detailed work plans to ensure that the amount of disassembly and assembly is reduced to a minimum and the integrity of the original living area is preserved to the greatest extent. Due to the meticulous preparation work in the early stage, the cable connection was completed in one go, and the debugging of the communication equipment passed smoothly.

    Due to the large number and labor intensity of the lashing Bridges that fixed the containers, it became a long-term project in the entire modification process, and the repair of Wenchong was completed in just 35 days from the demolition of the old lashing bridge to the installation of the new lashing bridge.
