IMO recently announced on its official website that the theme of the 2024 World Day of the Seafarer is "Safety Tips At Sea" (Maritime safety, share your best tips). This year's World Day of the Seafarer theme coincides with the World maritime theme "Navigating the Future: Safety First!" It focuses on the contribution of seafarers to a safer workplace in the shipping industry.

    On June 25, 2010, the International Maritime Organization held a diplomatic conference of the States parties to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers (STCW Convention) in Manila, the Philippines, at which it was decided to name June 25 each year as the "World Day of the Seafarer" to encourage governments and shipping organizations to pay tribute to seafarers and thank them for their contribution to humanity and the world.

    The establishment of the "World Day of the Seafarer" aims to enable all sectors of society to pay long-term attention to the outstanding contribution of seafarers to international maritime trade and economic development, take measures to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of seafarers, and encourage more ambitious young people to engage in navigation.
