Shandong Port Group (referred to as "Shandong port") Qingdao Port released news on the 19th that on the same day, the ALS FLORA(Dafifola) ship left the port and sailed to Ensenada Port, Mexico, marking the port's first Mexican container route opened this year, and Shandong port added a direct shipping route to Mexico.

    Dafiflora is the first ship of this new route. This voyage will load and unload 2733 TEU containers from Qingdao Port in Shandong Province, including daily necessities, machinery and equipment, glass products, etc. It is expected to arrive at Ensenada Port in Mexico in 20 days.

    Ban Zhengqi, director of the QQCTU program at Qingdao Port in Shandong province, said that recently, with the increase in imports and exports to Mexico and neighboring countries, the shipping space between China and Mexico is tight. In this regard, Qingdao Port of Shandong Port coordinated shipping companies to strengthen the route layout to Mexico. He said that the new route opened a total of eight container ships with more than 4,000 TEUs were put into weekly operation, and the routes successively arrived at the three major ports of Ensenada, Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas on the west coast of Mexico.

    Statistics show that China has been Mexico's second largest trading partner for many years in a row, and in 2023, bilateral trade between China and Mexico reached a new high, surpassing 100 billion US dollars for the first time, an increase of 6.03%.

    The opening of the new route will further open up markets for import and export enterprises in the Yellow River basin of China. At the same time, the high-quality cold chain service of this route will provide a more powerful transportation guarantee for the import and export trade of fruits, juices, candies, wine and other foods in Mexico and neighboring countries.

    Since 2024, Shandong port has joined hands with shipping companies to increase capacity, and has opened seven international container routes to the United States, Japan and Mexico. In the first half of 2024, the container throughput of Shandong port and the operation of large container ships have significantly increased. Among them, the container throughput of Shandong port Qingdao Port in the first quarter increased by 11.3% year-on-year, and the operation of large container ships above 366 meters from January to April increased by 21.20% year-on-year.
