China's self-developed 175,000 cubic meter LNG carrier has been docked in Dalian
A 175,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier independently developed and designed by China dedocked on May 27 at China Shipbuilding Corporation Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., LTD. (CSIC). The ship is a special vessel that transports liquefied natural gas at minus 163 degrees Celsius at normal temperature and pressure, and is a key equipment in the LNG supply chain.
Together with aircraft carriers and luxury cruise ships, large LNG carriers are known as the "three jewels in the crown" of the shipbuilding industry, and their design and construction are the concentrated embodiment of the comprehensive strength of a country's shipbuilding industry.
The LNG carrier out of dock is the first large LNG carrier built by Dalian Shipbuilding, a Chinese shipping company. The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a width of 46.4 meters, a depth of 26.2 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a design service speed of 19.5 knots, and a total cargo tank capacity of 175,000 cubic meters. It can dock at most of the world's large liquefied natural gas shore stations, and has excellent port suitability and ship-shore compatibility.
The ship has high safety and stability and low LNG loss during transportation. Both oil and gas modes meet the most stringent IMO emission standards and have high energy saving and environmental performance.
After docking, the ship will enter the underwater mooring commissioning and cargo containment system construction phase, scheduled for delivery in August 2025.
