On July 12, the 7,500-car LNG dual-fuel new car ro-RO ship "Minjiang Kou" made its first voyage to dock at Haitong Dock in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Area, and 4,853 domestic brand cars slowly drove onto the new ship from the front of the dock, waiting for the start of the Persian Gulf voyage.

    Two days later, the sister ship "Liaohekou", delivered in the same batch, will also dock at Haitong dock and load 4,132 commercial vehicles for Europe.

    "Minjiangkou" and "Liaohekou" are designed by Shanghai Shipbuilding Research and Design Institute. They are green, intelligent, environmentally friendly and efficient vehicle carriers. Compared with conventional fuel oil vehicle vessels, the ship type can reduce energy consumption by about 20%, reduce carbon emissions by about 27%, nitrogen oxide emissions by 30%, sulfur emissions by 99%, and PM particulate matter emissions by more than 90%. Taking a round trip to Europe as an example, the full use of LNG fuel can reduce more than 2,100 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per voyage.

    During the operation of "Minjiangkou" and "Liaohekou" ro-Ro ships in Hong Kong, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Area Customs (hereinafter referred to as "Waigaoqiao Customs") adopted the "customs contact person" system to provide a convenient customs clearance environment for the first voyage of new ships and new car exports, ensure the loading operation plan and improve the efficiency of vehicle customs clearance.

    According to reports, the outer port is currently the country's largest vehicle import and export port. In the first half of this year, the port customs has supervised the export of 613,200 domestic vehicles, an increase of 27.73%, and the export volume continues to remain the first in the country.

    With the launching of new domestic vessels by Chinese shippers, the port customs supervised 468 foreign trade ro-ro vessels, an increase of 19% year-on-year. On average, 2-3 ro-ro vessels leave the port every day, and more than 3,000 vehicles sail from here every day to more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
