ONE/HMM/ Yangming Announces New Alliance "Premier Alliance" MSC joins!
On September 9, Ocean Network Alliance Shipping (ONE), HMM and Yangming Shipping jointly announced that THE original THE alliance will be officially dissolved, and announced the formation of a new shipping alliance "Premier Alliance" aimed at deepening the cooperation between the three companies. The new alliance will take effect from February 2025 for a period of five years and will focus on key east-west services, including Asia-North America West, North America East, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Middle East.
In particular, the newly established "Premier Alliance" will cooperate with MSC, the world's largest shipping company, to exchange space, focusing on Asian and European routes, involving nine routes to provide wider direct port coverage and increase the frequency of service.
This change follows THE announcement by Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk in January 2024 of the "Gemini" long-term operational collaboration plan, and plans to withdraw from the alliance on January 31 of the same year, marking another major adjustment in the global liner alliance pattern. Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have been very active in the chartering market recently, both chartering multiple container ships. Some analysts said that the two companies are preparing for the upcoming "Gemini cooperation plan."
Jeremy Nixon, CEO of ONE, said the deepening collaboration with HMM and Yangming Shipping will provide customers with a more reliable and comprehensive end-to-end service through Premier Alliance from February 2025, further strengthening the three parties' existing close network cooperation.
CAI Fengming, chairman of Yangming Shipping, stressed that the new alliance not only reflects the deep trust and common vision of the three companies in the industry, but also promises to continue to innovate, improve service quality, provide customers with more competitive solutions, and have confidence in the future. He also noted that the cabin exchange cooperation with MSC will further optimize the quality of service on routes between Asia and Europe, increasing service coverage and transportation options.
MSC announces partnership with Premier Aliance to cover Asia-Europe trade routes
MSC also confirmed the cooperation, saying that it will exchange space with Premier Alliance on trade routes from Asia to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean from February 2025, jointly building a more resilient and broad-based transport network.
With the implementation of this series of cooperation and adjustment, the competitive pattern of the global shipping market will undergo new changes, and various companies aim to provide customers with more efficient and better services through resource integration and strategic alliances.
