A person has fallen into the water in the Strait of Malacca! Chinese oil tanker is on the scene!
At 14:28 on June 29th, the Zhoushan-registered oil tanker "Yousen 2" of Dongzhan Shipping Co., Ltd. was sailing at a speed of 9.1 knots in the shipping lane of the Strait of Malacca. The duty officer, Second Officer Yang Junchao, and the duty helmsman, Shui Fang, were on watch when they noticed that about 3 nautical miles from the left bow of the ship, there was a person in the water seeking help. The person was struggling constantly on the water surface and gradually drifted away from the ship with the current. The rescue situation was extremely urgent.
The captain immediately ordered all crew members to issue a distress alert for those who had fallen into the water, activate the emergency response plan for personnel in distress, send an urgent distress signal via high-frequency radio to the Malaysian Maritime Search and Rescue Center, and head towards the location of the fallen personnel.
At 14:42, the vessel approached the person who had fallen into the water and threw lifebuoys and rescue nets to the person. As the person who had fallen into the water was already completely exhausted, the captain immediately instructed the crew to enter the water to help the person secure themselves in the lifebuoy net. Then, using a crane, the person was successfully rescued and brought back onto the ship.
At 15:03, with the joint efforts of the crew, shore staff and passengers, the drowning person was successfully rescued in just half an hour. After examination, the person was conscious, with stable vital signs, and only had minor abrasions on the body surface. The vessel then arranged for the chief officer, Fang Fengwei, to conduct a preliminary examination and care for the person, and continuously monitor his condition.
